Pharmaceuticals are substances that are used daily in human and veterinary medicine to maintain health. Their constant consumption increases the probability of reaching and finding these active substances in the environment (soil, sediment, wastewater, drinking water) within which it can undergo various decomposition processes and cause new products that can often be more toxic than the starting compound. One of the ways to remove pharmaceuticals from the environment is photocatalysis, which reduces the concentration of the active component with an effective photocatalyst TiO2 and a light source. When using other sorbents, including TiO2, the fact that pharmaceuticals can be sorbed on the surface of the photocatalyst cannot be ignored. In this paper, experiments were performed for crizotinib and imatinib, pharmaceuticals whose fate and behavior in the environment are poorly known. Crizotinib is a small molecule approved in 2011 as an antitumor drug that inhibits receptor tyrosine kinase in lung cancer as one of the leading causes of death in the world. Imatinib is the first approved tyrosine kinase inhibitor for human therapy in the treatment of myeloid leukemia (CML). Using the photocatalysis process, the sorption of crizotinib and imatinib on the TiO2 surface in an aqueous medium was examined. First, the maximum sorption for both pharmaceuticals was determined, which is achieved after 24 hours of shaking. Then, to determine the kinetics andsorption rate, a 2nd order pseudokinetic model proved to be better, which had higher values of the regression coefficient R^2 (> 0.997) and a much better agreement of the values between qe,exp and qe,calc. Linear, Freundlich and Temkin sorption isotherms were used to describe the influence of pH, temperature, sorbent mass and ionic strength on the sorption of the tested pharmaceuticals.
